The stand and spine are metal and therefore sturdy enough to live if you somehow knock it onto the floor. The pages also are heavy duty and look ready to last. I like the way you can start with one spine and expand to 3. It is very heavy, but to me this is an advantage as it is not easy to knock over or disturb from its location unlike other brands which are plastic and unsteady.
